Blossoming from a casual collaboration between vocalist Florence Welch and keyboardist Isabella Summers, British indie rock band Florence and the Machine is now a globally-renowned, six-time Grammy Award-nominated sensation. The duo began playing together in the mid-2000s, and began working with a wider group of musicians over time. The band's debut studio album, Lungs, came in 2009 and was a success both critically and commercially, and became one of the best-selling albums of both 2009 and 2010 in the United Kingdom, charting in the top forty for sixty-five consecutive weeks. The band's three subsequent albums have all fared similarly well, charting in the top ten on albums charts the world over, and the group has enjoyed a variety of high profile performances, including headlining the UK's Glastonbury Festival, making Florence Welch the first British female headliner this century. The group's latest release is High As Hope (2018).
