LCD Soundsystem is a highly-unique music act known for infusing punk, disco, electronica, indie rock, and more. Their genre-defying works have garnered a continuously growing niche audience. The six-member band emerged in 2002 from Brooklyn, New York. Led by lead singer and primary songwriter James Murphy, LCD Soundsystem has enjoyed incredible two decades of music. The band debuted with their breakout single, “Losing My Edge,” which notably entered the U.K. chart. Early in their career, the band continued to drop non-album singles leading up to the release of their self-titled debut studio album in 2005. The critically-acclaimed album spawned several LCD staples, such as “Movement,” the Grammy-nominated single, “Daft Punk is Playing at My House,” “Disco Infiltrator,” and more. Upon its release, the record peaked at number 6 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums and entered the charts in eight other countries. Eventually, the album’s success led to a Grammy nomination for Best Electronica/Dance Album and a gold certification in the U.K. after selling over 100,000 copies.

After their stellar debut, the band released three more highly-acclaimed studio efforts. In 2007, they dropped their sophomore effort, Sound of Silver, which served as the band’s official debut on the Billboard 200. The album, which spawned hit singles “North American Scum” and “All My Friends,” peaked at number 46 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Dance/Electronica Albums. LCD’s exemplary work with Sound of Silver led to another Grammy nomination for Best Electronica/Dance Album. The band has garnered three Grammy nominations in two years, but it took them another ten years to receive another nomination from the Recording Academy.

In 2018, their single, “Tonite,” from their latest effort American Dream, finally won the band their first Grammy. The song won Best Dance Recording, while the album was nominated for Best Alternative Album. The release of the 2017 album marks the band’s many successes. American Dream topped three Billboard charts, including the Billboard 200, and entered the chart in 20 other countries. The record was also met with high acclaim from fans and critics. Moreover, a massive tour and several headlining gigs at popular festivals, such as Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits, supported the release.
