Eclectic music artist Nathaniel Rateliff has been delivering his unique brand of tunes since the 2000s! He first formed Born in the Flood in 2002 and became a hometown favorite in Denver. The band began headlining local festivals and even released their full studio album. The band’s rising popularity gained plenty of attention from music execs, but Rateliff turned down a record deal. The acclaimed songwriter wanted to focus on a scaled-down version of his music. Hence, he formed Nathaniel Rateliff & the Wheel.

In 2007, the band dropped their debut album, Desire and Dissolving Men. The album was produced with acclaimed collaborator Joseph Pope III who performed bass, guitar, harmonica, and organ in the album. The album also contained performances from guest musicians and other acclaimed artists.

In 2013, Rateliff debuted his new band, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. The band released their self-titled studio album two years later and made a remarkable breakthrough on the mainstream charts. The 2015 effort peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Folk Albums chart. The album also achieved commercial success after entering the charts in eight other countries, the album also achieved commercial success. Meanwhile, the lead single and the band’s biggest hit, “S.O.B,” also performed phenomenally on the charts. The song entered five Billboard charts, including topping the Adult Alternative Songs. “S.O.B.” was later certified platinum, while the debut album was certified gold in the U.S.

After their stellar debut, the band took five years to come out with their sophomore record. However, the wait was worth it thanks to Rateliff’s exemplary with Tearing at the Seams. The 2018 effort spawned the number 1 song, “You Worry Me,” which topped both the Canadian chart and U.S. Adult Alternative Songs. The follow-up single, “A Little Honey,” was also a charting success, peaking at number 2 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart. To promote the album, the band made some notable appearances, including performing “A Little Honey” live on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

In 2021, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nightsweats released their latest album, The Future. The album is one of Rateliff’s more personal work with songs like “Survivor,” which pertains to his on and off health problems. Rateliff mentioned in a statement, "When I was writing the record, we were in the middle of a pandemic, and our future looked pretty bleak. I just continue to try to write from a place of hope. Then my own neurosis, and maybe being a Libra, gets in the way, and I can’t make up my mind. There is this constant back-and-forth battle in me personally, and I am sure that comes out in my writing."
