Since 1999, Phil Lesh, former bassist of the Grateful Dead, was an annual visitor to the Red Rocks Amphitheater, bringing his various projects to the iconic venue including Phil Lesh & Friends and Furthur. But Phil Lesh hasn’t performed here since 2013 – this year’s show with The Terrapin Family Band marks his first long-awaited visit in 5 years!
The Terrapin Family band was formed due to the special vibe of Terrapin Crossroads, the venue Lesh opened in Marin Country. Creating original material using the Grateful Dead’s work as a springboard, The Terrapin Family Band grew organically to give listeners a genuine experience. And the word “family,” isn’t just stuck on there for no reason – Grahame Lesh, Phil’s son, is in the band, as well as Alex Koford, a long standing family friend.
