A prominent rock sensation, Maynard James Keenan, is celebrating his 60th birthday this April 2024. The singer-songwriter and record producer had established himself as one of the most influential figures in the circuit. Moreover, his bands Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer had amassed a large and loyal following over the years. This spring of 2024, Keenan will celebrate with a mini-trek called the Sessanta Tour and, it brings together iconic bands, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, and Primus. The bands will travel to six cities and perform seven shows, including a two-night spectacle at the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado, from April 25th to 26th, 2024.
Upon announcing the tour, the official press release stated that the three bands would not only perfect their high-energy set but also join each other’s performances. This unique format will be filled with surprises and cool collaborations that rock fans will not see anywhere else. In a statement, Keenan mentions, “Bands aren’t used to simultaneously sharing the stage with other bands. But if anyone can do it, it’s Primus, A Perfect Circle, and Puschifer.”
Since 1999, A Perfect Circle has dominated the rock and alternative scene with their highly sophisticated staples. The band has been known to showcase incredible flexibility, from high-powered rock tunes to soft-toned numbers that showcase Keenan’s distinct vocals. The band debuted as a supergroup, which includes original members Keenan and Billy Howerdel. They were later joined by former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, former Eagles of Death Metal bassist Matt McJunkins, and drummer Jeff Friedl. The band dropped its latest album, Eat the Elephant, in 2018. The effort peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Top Rock Albums.
In 1995, Keenan also formed Puscifer with musicians Carina Round and Matt Mitchell. The band was created to provide a medium for Keena’s creative subconscious. Puscifer eventually became a full touring band with four studio albums. The band dropped its latest effort, Existential Reckoning, in 2020.
Primus has been a force in the alternative metal circuit since 1984. The band, comprising acclaimed musician Les Claypool with Larry LaLonde and Tim Alexander, recently completed their outing, A Tribute to Kings Tour. This 2024, they once again hit the road with Puscifer and A Perfect Circle to showcase their career-spanning hits. The band has a nine-album discography packed with trailblazing alternative funk and progressive rock and metal music.
