Five-piece indie rock outfit Rainbow Kitten Surprise is more than just a quirky name. The indie rock outfit from Boone, North Carolina, has built a stark reputation for their tasteful alternative-driven staples, such as “It’s Called: Freefall,” “Cocaine Jesus,” “Devil Like Me,” “Painkillers,” and many more. The band may be unassuming, partly due to their lack of appearances on the mainstream charts, but their niche following has more than made up for that. The band has actually amassed hundreds of millions of streams on various platforms. Meanwhile, their new single, “Drop Stop Roll,” just released in spring, has clocked in over two million streams.

The moral of the story here is that don’t judge a band by its cover. After all, RKS’ independent efforts have earned them a sweet major record deal. In 2013, the band dropped their debut album, Seven. But also wanting to release their new EP Mary, the debut effort was aptly named Seven + Mary. The highly-acclaimed independent record spawned several notable singles, including the fan favorite “Devil Like Me.” The following year, the band scored incredible gigs performing in major festivals like Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and more.

Two years after their debut album was released, the band dropped their sophomore effort, RKS. The album was notable for its highly-acclaimed fan beloved track, “Cocaine Jesus,” which has garnered over 100 million streams. Their exemplary work has not remained under the radar. The band’s burgeoning stardom has become a word-of-mouth sensation. Hence, Rainbow Kitten Surprise finally signed a record deal with major label Elektra Records.

In 2018, the band made their major label debut with How To: Friend, Love, Freefall. The album spawned several notable tracks, including “Hide and “Fever Pitch.” Following the album’s release, the band embarked on a headlining tour across the U.S. and Canada. The following year, the band sold out the Red Rocks Amphitheater in June, which became an incredible closing to their highly-successful summer tour.

This 2023, the band will make its phenomenal return to the Red Rocks Amphitheater. This season, Rainbow Kitten Surprise will hold a two-night spectacle packed with hits, fan favorites, and new songs from their upcoming album. Secure tickets now before you miss out on this incredible gig!
