Rüfüs Du Sol has enjoyed much success worldwide with their electronica music mixed with alternative and house. The trio pushes the boundaries and breaks away from traditional EDM. The band performs their instruments live on stage, and they often provide high-energy sets. “When we approach the live show, I think a really exciting thing for us is to re-imagine the songs and try to bring a new dimension and new journey to our music,” Rüfüs Du Sol drummer James Hunt said during an interview. Indeed, their distinct music style resonated well with listeners. Their first two albums, Atlas and Bloom, peaked at number 1 on the Australian charts. Their third album, Solace, peaked at number 2, and their latest, Surrender, topped the chart again. The group has also won several awards in Australia, such as the ARIA Music Award for Best Dance Release and Best Group. In 2017, Rüfüs Du Sol also won the Electronic Music Awards for Record of the Year for “Innerbloom” and Live Act of the Year. This 2022, Rüfüs Du Sol won their most prestigious award at the recent 64th Annual Grammy Awards. Their single “Alive” from the Surrender album won Best Dance Recording. “We’re at a loss for words. It’s the highest accolade,” keyboardist Jon George mentioned during an interview backstage at the Grammys. “I feel it’s something we’ve discussed over the years, being a band and setting career goals. Winning a Grammy is such an ambitious thing and something we’d never expected. We make music for ourselves, and ‘Alive’ was a really personal song for us. Then releasing it was really special, for it to connect with people and perform it live. But then to win this accolade for it? We’re still in shock.”
