Rüfüs Du Sol recently earned an award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for their track “Alive.” This award comes after two Grammy nominations for Best Dance Recording for “Underwater” and Best Dance/Electronic Album for Solace. During an interview backstage at the Grammys, keyboardist Jon George expressed his disbelief and excitement. “Winning a Grammy is such an ambitious thing and something we’d never expected. We make music for ourselves, and ‘Alive’ was a personal song for us. Then releasing it was really special to connect with people and perform it live. But then to win this accolade for it? We’re still in shock.”
Rüfüs Du Sol has enjoyed stellar success in Australia since the release of their debut album, Atlas. Released in 2013, Atlas has spawned their iconic singles, “Take Me,” “Desert Night,” “Tonight,” and “Sundream.” The highly-acclaimed debut album earned a few nominations at Australia’s most prestigious awarding organization, Aria Awards.
Their sophomore album, Bloom, also took the airwaves upon its release in 2016. Like its predecessor, Bloom topped the Australian charts and peaked at number 14 on the New Zealand countdown. The album featured five singles, including “You Were Right,” “Like An Animal,” and “Innerbloom.” Two years later, Rüfüs Du Sol won their first award when they released their third album, Solace. The record, which also earned two Grammy nods, entered the U.S. charts, peaking at number 6 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums.
