Slightly Stoopid may be one of the biggest names in reggae, but the band has been known to infuse several other influences into their mix. Their music contains various genres, which include folk, hip-hop, blues, metal, punk, and more. This eclectic mix has resonated well with their niche fan base, which has been growing steadily since their debut in 1996.
Slightly Stoopid will highlight their breakthrough album, Closer to the Sun, for their show at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. The 2005 effort was the band’s first entry into the Billboard 200 and also topped the Heatseekers chart. The album, which contains 20 tracks, was the beginning of the band’s rise to success. The title track was also the band’s second single to earn gold status in the U.S. Since the release of Closer to the Sun, Slightly Stoopid has consistently performed well on the charts with their subsequent efforts. Their follow-up album, Chronchitis, soared to number 55 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Independent Albums chart. Moreover, their 2012 effort, Top of the World, was the first record to enter Billboard 200’s top 20. This career-high equates to approximately 100,000 albums sold in the U.S.
