Seasoned singer-songwriter, musician, and actor Sting has taken the world by storm with his smashing hits. During the late ‘70s, he rose to prominence as lead singer and bassist of the legendary new wave band, The Police. Together, they spawned many timeless staples, such as “Every Breath You Take,” “Regatta de Black,” “Behind My Camel,” and more. The band has also received numerous awards, including five Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, a Juno Award, and a People’s Choice Award. In 2003, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani. During the induction speech. The Police were celebrated for their musical mastery and prowess in pushing music to the limits. The Police have produced and released five studio albums. In 1983, the band released their last studio album, Synchronicity, before Sting launched his solo career.

In 1985, Sting released his debut album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles. The record was met with high-acclaim from fans and critics thanks to sensational hits like “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free,” “Love is the Seventh Wave,” “Fortress Around Your Heart,” and more. Upon its release, the album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the U.K. chart. It also charted in over 11 other countries. In 1993, he dropped his fourth album, Ten Summoner’s Tales, which also debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200. The album spawned Top 20 singles, “If I Ever Lose My Faith in You,” “Seven Days,” and “Fields of Gold.” Like Sting’s debut album, Ten Summoner’s Tales sold over three million copies, earning triple platinum status in the U.S.

Sting’s five-decade career in music has resulted in numerous accolades with The Police as well as awards as a solo artist. Sting has earned three Brit Awards, an American Music Award, a Golden Globe Award, seven Ivor Novello Awards, and 12 Grammy Awards (in addition to the five he received with The Police). In 2014, he was honored at the Kennedy Center of Honors for his lifetime contribution to arts, music, and culture.
