World-renowned English singer-songwriter Gordon Matthew Thomas Summer, a.k.a. Sting, has had an incredible five-decade career. Sting has sold over 100 million albums. Hence, his regarded as one of the top-selling music stars of the 20th century. He rose to prominence during the ‘70s as frontman and bassist of the legendary new wave outfit, The Police. His work with the band had resulted in five Grammy Awards for sensation hits like “Reggatta de Black,” “Behind My Camel,” “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” and “Every Breath You Take.” At the same time, their 1983 album, Synchronicity, won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

The Police has released five platinum and multi-platinum-selling studio albums, four of which topped the charts in the U.K. Their 1983 effort Synchronicity was the band’s last release. It topped the U.K. and U.S. charts and entered the charts in 12 other countries. The album, which spawned the hit song “Every Breath You Take,” sold over eight million copies in the U.S., earning an eight-time platinum certification. In 2003, The Police was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

In 1985, Sting pursued his solo career and dropped his debut album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles. The album became an instant commercial success, debuting at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and entering the charts in 12 other countries. The record was certified double platinum after selling over two million copies in the U.S. His debut effort spawned several singles, including “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free,” “Love is the Seventh Wave,” and Fortress Around Your Heart.”

After his stellar debut, Sting moved on to have a phenomenal career. He has released a total of 15 studio albums, seven of which earned platinum or multi-platinum status. Moreover, Sting has dropped 51 singles, including the sensation hits “All for Love,” “Shape of My Heart,” “Fields of Gold,” and “Desert Rose.”

Apart from his amazing achievements with The Police, Sting has also singlehandedly earned several more accolades, including an American Music Award, three Brit Awards, a Billboard Music Award, a Golden Globe Award, and 12 Grammy Awards.
