Known internationally on the touring circuit for their astounding live shows (they rank among Pollstar Magazine’s list of top-grossing touring acts), Sound Tribe Sector Nine, often shortened to STS9, formed in 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia. Using live rock instrumentation to mimic an electronic sound, the group brings together influences from funk, jazz, drum and bass, psychedelia, and hip hop to create a genre that is unique to them. Over the years, the band has supported an eclectic array of artists, including Snoop Dogg, NAS, Bassnectar, Ghostland Observatory, The Glitch Mob, Thievery Corporation, Pretty Lights, Big Boi (Outkast), and numerous others. Since its inception, STS9 has released eleven studio albums, two remix albums and multiple live DVDs on its label, 1320 Records.
