Soundcloud icons, the Suicideboys, prove that being an underground act can also gain a massive worldwide audience. The duo are purveyors of the burgeoning rap-metal scene, and they represent a new hip-hop subgenre that has amassed a cult following. In 2014, Suicideboys, comprising cousins Scrim and Ruby Da Cherry, began uploading music on the streaming platform called Soundcloud. Their first project, Kill Yourself Part: The $uiside $aga, was dropped in the summer and contained three tracks, including a notable collaboration with acclaimed rapper Bones. Over the following year, the duo continued to upload music until they started gaining a following.

Despite not charting on the Billboard Hot 100, many of Suicideboys’ singles have been certified gold. Their biggest hit, “…And to Those I Love, Thanks for Sticking Around,” have clocked in half a billion streams. Over on youtube, their song “Paris” has been viewed over 180 million times. In 2018, the duo debuted on the Billboard 200 for the first time. Their debut album, I Want to Die in New Orleans, peaked at number 9 on the chart and entered the chart in nine other countries. The critically-acclaimed album spawned singles “Carrolton” and “Meet Mr. Niceguy.”

The duo dropped their sophomore effort, Long Term Effects of Suffering, three years later. The album soared to number 7 on the Billboard 200, 2 on the Top Rap Albums, and number 1 on the Independent Albums chart. The groundbreaking album continued to showcase the boys’ eclectic music style, which infuses rap, punk, metal, and trap into one mix. This is evident in the album’s singles, “New Profile Pic,” “Avalom,” and “Materialism as a Means to an End.”

Last year, Suicideboys released their latest effort, Sing Me a Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation. The album debuted at number 7 on the Billboard chart and number 1 on the Top Rap Albums. This accomplishment made headlines across the music industry. The two outcasts who were defined as horrorcore listeners have proven that their brand of underground rap is something to be reckoned with. The album’s release was supported by the Grey Day Tour, which sold out everywhere.

See Suicideboys deliver their exhilarating setlist at the Red Rocks Amphitheater on Tuesday, 31st October 2023! This highly-anticipated Halloween show will also feature iconic rappers Ghostemane and City Morgue as special guests!
