Tedeschi Trucks Band is fresh from their most ambitious project. Their fifth effort, I Am the Moon, was released in a four-part series. Crescent, Ascension, The Fall, and Farewell was released in 2022, with the last released in August. The album contains 24 highly-acclaimed tracks – all written by Tedeschi and Trucks, plus contributions from other band members and esteemed musicians.
In an interview, Trucks mentioned that this project would have never come to light if not for the pandemic. The band is a prolific touring act, and spending several months in a studio was outside their initial plans. But due to the pandemic, live concerts were put to a halt. Thus, the band made the most of their time by making new music. “I don’t think there’s any way we would have. We tour so much, and with some of that, you become a bit of a creature of habit. You don’t think you could take four months off and not implode. Who stops working for a year? It’s not something you ever think about.”
Since 2011, Tedeschi Trucks Band has dropped several chart-performing releases. Their debut album, Revelator, peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart. The record also won Best Blues Album at the 54th Grammy Awards. The sophomore effort, Made Up Mind, was their highest charting release to date. The album peaked at number 11 and won Rock Blues Album of the Year at the Blues Music Award.
