The Chainsmokers is an American award-winning EDM DJ duo that rose to popularity in the 2010s. They’re known for hit songs like “Roses” and “Don’t Let Me Down.” Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, the names behind the successful duo, collaborated through a manager in 2012 who was in the midst of reforming an EDM duo; they both hit it off gradually and started with remixes of mostly indie bands. The experience and background made their signature sound embody the foundations of indie and blended with the elements of progressive, dance, and pop, able to create award-winning and addicting beats and productions.

The two artists met in college with the intention of taking up music as a career. Alex Pall, who had been a DJ throughout his career, was one of the original members of Chainsmokers, and he attended New York University for art history and music business. Pall had been working at an art gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan, at the time he was introduced to his new partner. Andrew “Drew” Taggart, meanwhile, was a student at Syracuse University and had only just recently, at that time, been taking an interest in electronic dance music. Before they met, Taggart was an intern at Interscope Records and was afterward recommended to a manager attending EDM artists.

One of their first projects was a collaboration with the Indian actress and recording artist Priyanka Chopra on the single “Erase.” The song was soon followed by “The Rookie” in early 2013. Their breakthrough song “#Selfie” broke the internet and immediately put them right up the charts; the song is considered to be the defining moment of the year 2013. The duo kept surprising the world as their vibey, mellow, and chill beats, “Roses,” took the world by storm once more. Released in 2015, the song would go on to define the duo and the work they will continue to have in the future, nevertheless continuing to make sensational songs one after another.

Get ready for an ultimate night of heart-dropping beats and bops because Chainsmokers will be partying live at the Red Rocks Amphitheater along with multi-talented mainstream music producer SG Lewis and Swedish duo NOTD.
