The annual Umphrey's McGee-fest will be returning to Red Rocks Amphitheater this Independence Day weekend, with the band performing their second headlining show on Friday 6th July 2018! The band had this to say in a statement on their website:
"Umphrey’s McGee returns to the other-worldly Red Rocks Amphitheatre for three nights this summer, July 5th, 6th, and 7th. We will be joined by heavy-hitting support artists – we are not letting you in on who just yet, but we trust you will not be disappointed. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we lift the lid on the tremendous talent we will share the stage with this July.
Independence Day weekend in Colorado has become a highlight of the year for Umphrey’s McGee and over 9,000 of our closest friends who fill the natural amphitheater every summer. Last year we made the jump to three nights, and are back again in 2018 with a six-set triple header to celebrate UMerica together, cutting it up under the Colorado sky.
With a following akin to the Grateful Dead and a sound that fuses the mighty prog sounds of King Crimson with the spacey jam-band psychedelic improv of Phish, Umphrey's McGee are becoming legends in their own right! Bursting onto the scene in 1998 with the release of their ironically-titled debut album Greatest Hits Vol. III (released after only eight months together), the band soon became an underground sensation. Amassing a cult following due to their heaving touring schedule, which often sees the band performing over one hundred shows a year, the band is known for their groove-centered live shows, which featured improvised performances and incredible light shows.
