The band was formed in 1986 in their hometown of Athens, Georgia. Many compare their sound to other jam bands such as Grateful Dead and Phish. Widely renowned for their live performances, they hold the record for highest number of sold-out performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The band’s newest album, Miss Kitty’s Lounge is releasing on May 20. It will be available on vinyl, digitally via Livewidespreadpanic.com and stream on all platforms. In many ways, you could say this release from the band has been a long time coming. Miss Kitty’s Lounge is a remastered demo LP consisting of songs that were originally written while the band took some time off the road in 1990. The collection eventually led to a record deal with Capricorn Records, which went on to release their next five albums.

In their history, Widespread Panic has never had a video played on MTV or a song on mainstream radio, never signed to a major record label, and never had a single on the Top 200 chart. Their albums typically sell fewer than 200,000 copies each. So one might ask, how does a band with stats like that continue to sell out one of America's most popular live music venues?

Widespread Panic has earned renown as one of America's best live bands. They have often appeared in Pollstar's “Concert Pulse” chart of the top fifty bands on the road. Known for a relentless touring schedule that’s been going strong since the late 80’s, Widespread Panic kicks off their next tour April 15 in Austin, TX with shows running all the way up to New Year’s Eve of 2023.

While the band has never been nominated for a Grammy, there are many vocal dissenters online that feel they deserve one of music's highest awards, which is a testament to the quality of the music they play.

In summary, you can expect an amazing show when Widespread Panic comes to town. You won’t want to miss this stop at the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater on Sunday June 25th. Get ready to kick back and listen to some bluesy jams under the stars with one of America's favorite live bands, Widespread Panic.
