A prolific purveyor of many sounds, 311 emerged to fuse various genres. The band, led by frontman Nick Hexum, has quickly become a staple in the rap-metal scene, but their knack for funk and reggae has also brought them listeners from other markets. They achieved monumental commercial success with the release of “Down,” which topped the Modern Rock Chart. After their phenomenal breakthrough, the rest was history. 311 had become a mainstay on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart. By 2004, they had topped the chart again with their hit single, “Love Song,” which also became their only entry into the Billboard Hot 100. The song was a cover of The Cure’s 1989 song, featured in their eighth album, Disintegration.
This summer, expect 311 to cover their vast catalog - ranging from their 1993 effort Music all the way to their latest album, voyager.
