Beats Antique is an electronic world music fusion group, consisting of David Satori (guitar, saz, viola, and percussion), Tommy “Sidecar” Cappel (keys, toy piano, drums, and percussion), and Zoë Jakes (belly dancer, composer, and arranger). Formed in 2007 alongside Jakes' manager, Miles Copeland, the band released their debut album, Tribal Derivations, later that year as a soundtrack to Jakes' bellydance shows. Creating their signature sound over the years, the band combine samples and world music-inspired percussion with Tribal Fusion bellydance and other forms of performance art and have been noted for their sensational live shows. Drawing on a wide range of different influences, the band have released eleven albums, and have collaborated with a variety of notable musicians, including Balkan Brass Band, Brass Menazeri, hip hop vocalist LYNX, John Popper (Blues Traveller) and Les Claypool (Primus).
