Last year, Funk on the Rocks triumphantly returned to the Red Rocks Amphitheater. The show featured several world-class talents, including DJ Jim-E-Stack, Blu De Tiger, Purple Disco Machine, and more. Of course, the epic concert was headlined by Montreal-based electro-funk powerhouse Chromeo. The festival is known for having a star-studded line-up. This 2023, the show features several critically-acclaimed acts that made waves across the EDM world.

Canadian duo Chromeo is known for their eclectic mix of sounds – ranging from blue-eyed soul to dance, rock, disco, funk, and synth-pop. David Maclovitch and Patrick Geyamel met in college during the ‘90s. Their love for hip-hop and electronic music has become a longtime collaboration known as Chromeo. They debuted in 2002 with the critically acclaimed “You’re So Gangsta.” Over the next few years, they released several more tracks from their debut album, She’s in Control. Released in 2004, the debut effort spawned the duo’s breakthrough hit, “Need Girl,” which entered the charts in the U.K. and Sweden.

In 2007, Chromeo released their follow-up album, Fancy Work. The album made a breakthrough in the U.S. after entering Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums at number 11 and Heatseekers Albums at number 25. The highly-acclaimed effort, which spawned three epic tracks, “Fancy Footwork,” “Tenderoni,” and “Bonified Lovin’,” was released the following year digitally with 15 remixes and several bonus tracks.

By 2010, Chromeo has released their career-defining album and major label debut. Their third effort, Business Casual, debuted on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number 4 on the Top Dance/Electronica Albums. The record also entered the charts in four other countries, including their home country, Canada. Critics praised the album for phenomenal tracks demonstrating Maclovitch and Geyamel’s love for Hall & Oates.

With the success of their major label debut, Chromeo is quickly rising in its ranks. In 2014, their follow-up effort, White Women, topped Billboard’s Dance Chart and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200. Four years later, the duo’s latest effort, Head Over Heels, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
