Ranked 43rd in Comedy Central's list of the Greatest Comics of All Time, American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer Dave Chappelle has been a big name on the comedy circuit since 1990. Chappelle made his film debut aged 19 in Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and that same year performed as soul singer Aretha Franklin’s opening act at a number of shows. After minor roles in The Nutty Professor and Con Air in the late 90s, Chappelle had his first lead role in the 1998 cult stoner film Half Baked, which he co-wrote with Neil Brennan. Chappelle also worked with Brennan on his sketch comedy television series, Chappelle's Show, which ran from 2003-2005 and brought the comedian widespread recognition. 2013 saw a return to stand-up for Chappelle, who had taken a break, co-headlining with Flight of the Conchords during the Oddball Comedy & Curiosity festival. In 2017, Netflix released two Dave Chappelle comedy specials – his first in 12 years.
