In 2007, Rock legend Robert Plant and bluegrass icon Alison Krauss released their first collaborative album, Raising Sand. What seemed an unlikely pair turned out to be one of the most incredible tandems. Raising Sand received raving reviews and universal acclaim. On the chart, the record performed impressively, debuting at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart. The album also received numerous accolades, including winning Album of the Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards and 2008 Americana Music Honors & Awards. “Raising Sand” eventually earned platinum status in the U.S. and five other countries. The album spawned three singles, “Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On),” “Please Read the Letter,” and “Rich Woman.”
It took Plant and Krauss 15 years to develop a follow-up album, Raise the Roof. The 2021 record was also met with high praise from professional music critics. Like its predecessor, Raise the Roof performed well on the charts, peaking at number 7 on the Billboard 200, number 1 on the US Independent Albums, and number 3 on the Top Country Albums charts. Apart from charting in the U.S., the album also entered the charts in more than 20 other countries. Raise the Roof features singles, “Can’t Let Go,” “High and Lonesome,” “It Don’t Bother Me,” and “Somebody Was Watching Over Me.”
