Once again, folk rock favorites The Avett Brothers are headed to Red Rocks Amphitheater on Friday 9th July 2021 for the first event of their annual three-night-run! The yearly tradition is hugely popular with fans of the sibling-led band, Red Rocks-lovers and Denver locals, who all come in their droves to dance the night away to some seriously catchy Americana! As always, they'll be supported by some very special guest acts in support, so watch this space for more info!
After Scott and Seth Avett's first band, Nemo, broke up, the siblings from North Carolina decided to form a new folk rock group. In 2001, the duo became a trio when bassist Bob Crawford joined them, and they released their debut album together the following year under the name The Avett Brothers. The self-released, full-length offering, Country Was, peaked the interest of Ramseur Records, who signed the band to their label. The trio released their debut studio album, A Carolina Jubilee, in 2003. Four years later, they were joined by cellist Joe Kwon, who debuted on their fifth studio album, Emotionalism. This change in sound led to the band signing with Rick Rubin's American Recordings label, and the release of I and Love and You, their major-label debut, in 2009. Their mainstream breakthrough album, I and Love and You reached number 16 on the Billboard 200 best-selling albums chart, number 8 on the best-selling digital albums chart, number 7 on the rock albums chart, and number 1 on the folk albums chart. The band has released five studio albums on American Recordings to date, with three of them reaching the top five, and they have been nominated for three Grammy Awards. Their most recent album, Closer Than Together, was released in October 2019.
