Blues Traveler is a veteran jam band that has been around since the late ‘80s. The award-winning rock quintet is known for experimenting with various genres, like folk, southern, alternative, blues, and many more. Since releasing their self-titled debut album in 1990, the band has released numerous iconic hits, including “Run-Around,” “But Anyway,” “Hook,” “Carolina Blues,” and “The Mountains Win Again,” among others.
In 1994, Blues Traveler made their stellar breakthrough by releasing their fourth studio effort, Four. The album, which spawned singles “Run-Around” and “Hook,” entered the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at number 8. The highly-acclaimed album sold over six million copies in the U,S., earning a six-platinum status. One year later, “Run Around” won the band’s first Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.
Blues Traveler has consistently performed a the Red Rocks Amphitheater on Independence Day, with the exception of 1999 and 2020. The tradition was founded when the band supported the Allman Brothers in 1992. The following year, Blues Traveler performed at the venue for the H.O.R.D.E. Festival. Since then, it has been a yearly tradition to celebrate the holiday with exemplary blues rock music.
