In 1998, drummer and bandleader Dave Watts founded The Motet and recruited guitarist Ryan Jalbert, bassist Garrett Sayers, keyboardist Joey Porter, trumpeter Gabe Mervine, vocalist Lyle Divinsky, and saxophonist Drew Sayers, to complete the line-up. Based in Denver, Colorado The Motet started brewing an organically rich and unique folk, jazz, afrobeat, funk, and soul sound they can brand as their own. To date, the band has released seven studio albums and have won a cross-section of music fans with their infectious singles: Life We Own It," "Closed Mouth Don't Get Fed," "Rynodub," "Dig Deep," "Keep on Don't Stoppin'," "Instrumental Dissent," "The Fountain," "Rich in People," "Extraordinary High," "Knock It Down," and "Cheap Shit.
