In 1998, drummer and bandleader Dave Watts founded The Motet and recruited guitarist Ryan Jalbert, bassist Garrett Sayers, keyboardist Joey Porter, trumpeter Gabe Mervine, vocalist Lyle Divinsky, and saxophonist Drew Sayers, to complete the line-up. Based in Denver, Colorado The Motet started brewing an organically rich and unique folk, jazz, afrobeat, funk, and soul sound they can brand as their own.
