Famous as an indie music festival favorite, Rainbow Kitten Surprise is a band that started in 2013. The band is originally a collaboration project of North Carolina artists Sam Melo—who recently announced that he is now referred to as "Ela Melo"—and guitarist Darrick "Bozzy" Keller. The band moniker they came up with alludes to the morphine-induced friend recovering from surgery. The duo was notable for their songwriting ability and their honest folk-rock and indie-pop tunes. Over the years, the band added Ethan Goodpaster, Jess Haney, and Charlie Holt as band members. Together, the band was able to capture their distinct sound, which they notably produced through skilled instrumentations and impeccable harmony.
In 2018, the band released its debut album, "How To: Friend, Love, and Freefall." Their track "Fever Pitch" reached as high as the 34th spot on Billboard's Alternative Songs Charts in the spring of that year, making them one of the sought-after names in the indie-folk scene. The band was not only headlining some big indie music festivals but was also selling out venues for their solo concerts. In fact, the band sold out their 2019 concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheater within a week. And now, the indie-music trailblazers are back at the Red Rocks Amphitheater for a two-night concert event on July 5 and 6.
Catch them on their second night by securing your tickets early. Hit the "Get Tickets" link to start your purchase.
